This entry is about the character named White Rose. For the book of the same title, see The White Rose (book).

The White Rose was the legendary female general who orchestrated the end of the Domination. Nothing much is known about her except that she must have been extraordinarily resourceful to successfully trap the Dominator, Lady and the Taken in the Barrowland. The other two acts she is credited with are the establishment of the Eternal Guard to protect the Barrowland from meddlers, and the eradication of the TelleKurre from the North. This culture, which provided the dominant language of the Domination and which provided troops for the final battle, has been wiped out without a trace.

Reincarnation

The Rebels who fight Lady a hundred years after her resurrection tell of a prophecy that the White Rose will be reincarnated to once again free the northern lands. A series of visions and signs suggest that Darling is in fact the reincarnation of the White Rose. She herself dismisses the notion, but does take up the name and symbol. She is an extremely capable general in any event, and her magical null field is sufficiently potent and uniquely suited to combat an empire run by sorcerers. (It is not known what if any special powers the original White Rose possessed.)
