Tracker

Tracker is a humanoid demon resembling an oversized ape. He is the faithful companion of Toadkiller Dog, another demon. Both are enormously old entities. They were originally in the service of Soulcatcher, and were trapped for centuries in the enchantments of the Barrowland.

Both demons are freed when Raven, an inexperienced wizard, enters the maze and Toadkiller Dog and Tracker are able to imprison Raven's spirit in their place, preserving the balance of the spells. Toadkiller Dog assumes the form of a regular dog, and Tracker that of a normal human, and the two infiltrate the Rebels, secretly working for the Dominator. As a human, Tracker possesses phenomenal combat skills; he is easily the best warrior in the Company. Although Tracker plays the part of the human, he is in fact much less intelligent and powerful than Toadkiller Dog. Even while disguised, Croaker notices that Tracker seems lost when the dog isn't around.

When Tracker encounters Old Father Tree the deception is unveiled. Toadkiller Dog flees, dodging lightning bolts, but Tracker reveres the god, bowing before the Tree. He is henceforth completely loyal to the Tree and the Company.

Croaker is bemused when he finds that Tracker is able to provide first-hand recollections of the Domination, providing important historical information and context for the cache of Domination-era documents the Company stole from Whisper.

Tracker dies wrestling the Dominator when he is released. He is the only fighter capable of matching the Dominator's strength.
