Torque brothers

Three members of the Black Company, Paddlefoot, Donkey Dick, and Brother Bear, who decide to leave the Company and remain with Darling after the defeat of the Dominator at the Barrowland. Donkey Dick uses the nickname "Stubby" when Darling is near, even though she can't hear what they're saying.

The Torque brothers are extremely devoted to Darling and serve loyally throughout her adventures in pursuit of the Limper and the Silver Spike. However they are otherwise undistinguished - their personalities are pretty interchangeable.

Paddlefoot dies from a stab wound inflicted by Old Man Fish when he rescues Smeds from the Rebels.

Brother Bear is killed by Smeds in a culvert when he and Raven try to capture Smeds.

Stubby is the only brother to survive. After retrieving the Silver Spike from outside the walls of Oar, he leaves after telling Case, "Tell her I'm out of it, Case. Tell her I just couldn't take it no more." Case supposes he leaves to look for Brother Bear, whom he doesn't realize is dead.
