The Dead Man
From Glen Cook Wiki
A Loghyr and Garrett's partner, the Dead Man weighs four hundred and fifty pounds and spends all his time sitting in an oversized chair in Garrett's house. About four hundred years before the events of Sweet Silver Blues, he was stabbed with a knife and killed, but Loghyr do not go easily. He's a little ragged around the edges, where the vermin have pecked at him, and smells exactly how you'd expect a four hundred year old corpse to smell - after all, the corruption process is slow, but it does go on.
The Dead Man has the ability to read and control minds, as well as manipulate objects with his mind, though these powers have a severely limited range. He is also a deductive genius on par with Nero Wolfe or Sherlock Holmes. To Garrett's knowledge, he is the only Loghyr who has ever allowed his genius to be commercialized, though the Dead Man seems to do it to relieve the monotony of his existence. From time to time, he "sleeps", apparently abandoning his body. Where he goes is a mystery.
The Dead Man constantly schemes, sometimes including his partner in them, and sometimes not. His schemes draw from the vast well of knowledge he's accumulated in his many years. He has a deep abiding mistrust of females of all races.
