The Master of the Library in Taglios, an old but hale man whose stuffiness is grist for the mockery of the younger copyists. He is truly dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, and eventually accompanies the Black Company to the Land of Unknown Shadows.
He spends several years teaching Tobo and acting as the Company's liaison in the monastery of Khang Phi. When the Company departs Hsien, Santaraksita elects to remain at the monastery.
