Pular Singe

Pular Singe, miracle rat-girl supreme, is fast becoming one of my favorite characters.

When originally introduced to Garrett in Faded Steel Heat, Pular Singe is renowned as the best of trackers of the Ratkind. She is described as having a hearing loss, and is unable to speak much un-inflected Karentine. Her ersatz boyfriend, Fenibro, is used to interperet for her. However, exposure to Garrett, over time, gives her more confidence. In the end, she makes a break from the Ratkind godfather, Reliance, and becomes more closely linked to Garrett, who uses his connections with Belinda Contague and the Outfit to convince Reliance that she isn't worth chasing after.

As Pular's confidence has grown, so has her capability. She has dropped the pretense of a hearing impairment and picked up Karentine as well as she can, given her vocal structures. She has asked Garrett to teach her to read and write, something that has been utterly unknown to Ratkind before. She has also been developing a sense of humor, and has even startled Garrett with a well-timed witticism.

Pular has expressed in no mean terms her intent to get into Garrett's bed, and he has had to wiggle most forcefully to avoid it. However, I don't think we've seen the last of this battle yet.
