Lisa Dae Bowalk

Lisa Bowalk is a barmaid from the Buskin, a slum area in Juniper, who works at Marron Shed's inn, the Iron Lily. She is fairly bright and ambitious, basically running the inn when Shed becomes too preoccupied with his money concerns. She hides money from Shed when it becomes apparent that he's spending out of control, in an effort to preserve the inn. She eventually sleeps with him, mainly to show her loyalty and secure her position, and Shed reveals his secret way of earning money (bringing bodies - dead or alive - to the sorcerous Black Castle). She demonstrates a surprisingly calculated response, making herself a partner in effect. She accompanies Shed on his next trip to the Black Castle.

They are captured by the Black Company however. The Taken Feather takes an interest in Lisa, and brings her to meet the Lady, presumably for torturing.

However, it turns out that what Feather sees in Lisa is magical talent. Lady apparently assigns Lisa to Shapeshifter as an apprentice, and the Company meets both Shifter and Lisa down in Gea-Xle in the south. At that point, Lisa has some magical skills, and is apparently Shifter's apprentice and lover.

When Shapeshifter is killed fighting Stormbringer, Lisa escapes, trapped in the shape of a forvalaka (the transformation spell is trapped in a "deadman's loop" triggered by Shifter's demise - he did not trust her apparently). For years she dogs the Company, eventually stalking and killing One-Eye, who dealt the death-blow to Shifter. In revenge, part of the "old Company" tracks her down to the land of Khatovar, where she is at last killed by the Black Spear.
