Land of Unknown Shadows

The world of the Hsien, the original home world of the Nyueng Bao. In ages past, this was the world which generated the Shadows in an effort to close down the Glittering Plain, after a particularly nasty invasion from one of the other worlds attached to the Plain. The Hsien world was conquered by an invading group of tall, thin Caucasian men known as the original Shadowmasters; they created the odd, intelligent, and very powerful Shadow creatures which thickly inhabit this world, using the Shadows from the Plain as their base material. There are no major sorcerers here, as anyone with hint of magical talent has been persecuted since the Shadowmasters were driven out (“All Evil Dies There an Endless Deathâ€). However, there are several huge monasteries—of which Khang Phi is the greatest—dedicated to the preservation of knowledge including magical knowledge.
This world is physically similar to Croaker's, except that it has two moons. The Black Company spends over four years here, building the Abode of Ravens city and regrouping.
