Crask & Sadler

At the outset of the series, Crask and Sadler are enforcers for organized crime kingpin Chodo Contague. They are extremely imposing humans, large and strong (roughly 6' 2" and 210 to 220lb or so) who resemble each other a great deal. Garrett initially describes them as "zombies who didn't go through the trouble of dying before being embalmed". This seems to be poetic license, but their strength and combat skills are legendary in the underworld. They are also completely fearless, with a chilling dead stare.

Crask grew up in the same neighborhood as Westman Block, head of the Watch; the two also started out in the same unit when they did their military service in the Cantard.

Garrett works with them in the first book but later, when Chodo is incapacitated by a stroke, Crask and Sadler try to take over the Outfit. Chodo's daughter Belinda Contague succeeds in taking over instead, and the feared assassins leave town. They return in Faded Steel Heat, where they succeed in abducting Belinda from her carriage. They are wounded by her bodyguards however and are shortly captured. Despite briefly escaping, they do not have a chance to recuperate and both die from their wounds by the end of the book.
