There exists an abundance of humanoid races in the world of Garrett, and there is no overarching mythology explaining where they all came from and what, if any, relationship there is between them. Mankind's distinguishing characteristic, his ready willingness to wage war, is apparently what has led to human domination in the kingdom of Karenta. TunFaire is apparently an atypical melting pot; it is said that a mere 150 years ago, other races were barely believed in by many humans, and now the non-human population is a substantial minority in the city and cross-breeds are common. All characters in TunFaire with any magical ability are human, but it's not clear whether this is the case everywhere.
